JULIE MAGINN
CONTEMPORARY ARTIST
I love being in my studio. It makes me high.
The paint, the turps, the drips, the tears, the good, the bad
and the down right disastrous. It doesn't matter in here.
This is MY space.
I reuse old canvas and board, filled with marks from art once
loved. We are like strangers then, my paintings and me.
We have to learn to trust each other again. Take it slowly.
Playing hide and seek as fresh colour obscures the remains of
the old so only the unexpected remains visible.
The atmosphere, gesture and energy mellow as the painting
informs me of its direction.
Painting intuitively, I add texture, and mixed media elements
into my work. Sometimes I am surprised at what comes out of
the process and sometimes
I must say Goodbye.
But it's never forever.

WORKSHOPS & MENTORSHIP
I’ve worked in the art world for over 25 years and have been working as an artist and tutor since 2007.
Living an artistic life isn’t always easy and we can struggle through creative blocks and resistance, both internally and externally. As artists, we need to let our creative voice be heard!
I’m passionate about supporting you in developing your unique, creative self, and am committed to helping you flourish and identify the changes necessary to reach your goals. You will discover new ways of thinking, gain confidence and clarity as we challenge ideas and work through critical feedback.
My sessions are packed with artist resources that have taken years of experience and research. I draw on personal experience in my teaching and share lessons learned from challenges along the way.
Lessons take place in my art studio at my home in Hertfordshire. Zoom sessions can also be arranged.
